Scam Alert: Telephone Wire Request

In light of a recent scam, United Heritage Credit Union urges members to remember to never arrange the transfer of money or provide personal information to unknown entities.

A scammer has called a number of UHCU members and claimed their company would like to issue the member a refund for overpayment. The caller then sends the member a file to download on their computer so the caller can establish a connection, has the member sign in to their Online Banking account and orchestrates a transfer between the member's accounts.

After that, the caller claims they have accidentally credited too much money back to the member's account and that the computer has accidentally frozen. The caller then requests that the member wire the funds back.

As a reminder, members should never download computer programs from sources they do not know, transfer money to unknown entities or provide personal information to strangers.

If you have any questions or need to report an incident, please call 512.435.4545, 903.597.7484 or 800.531.2328.
